Marco Bresciani

Aspiring Web Developer

Projects

I have had the opportunity through my education and outside of it to take part in various projects where I could practice my skills in both website development and computer programming, including this very website.

Academy for the Arts, Science & Technology Robotics Team Website

The Academy for the Arts, Science & Technology's Robotics Team Website Homepage

In high school, while attending The Academy for the Arts, Science & Technology, I had the opportunity to become the social media manager for the school’s Robotics Team during my senior year as a project. was responsible for managing the team’s Facebook page as well as creating a website for the team. This was the interesting both because I had never managed a social media page before nor have I officially published a website on my own. For the web page I initially created a prototype in Adobe Dreamweaver using HTML and CSS. The problem though was that, as a student, I needed to find a free way to publish the website. I found a solution by using my student Wix.com account to create a subdomain for my website in order to create the published version. I was able to optimize the project by using photos for both the social media posts and the website. Overall this was a great project for me to use the skills I learned during my high school years.

CSCI 115 Website Design Web Page

CSCI 115 Website Design Web Page

While taking CSCI 115 Website Design at College of Charleston, the students had to create a web page to host our assignments for the class. There were specific things we needed to include on our page as we learned them in class. One of the requirements was a hero pic which we used the free online program Photopea (a clone of Photoshop) to create. The other was having the content be displayed in a flex row. This class was one of my first experiences with using flex in CSS, and by extension using a CSS grid which I still use to this day.

Vincent Van Gogh Website

One of my assignments for CSCI 115 involved creating a website about an artist. I chose Vincent van Gogh due to him being a well known artist who I like the work of. This project was a great experience for me to refine what I’ve learned in the class up to that point. I got to experiment with flex rows, flex grids, and using a background image for div elements specifically. It was also a lot of fun researching an artist to be able to compile the website.

CSCI 115 Final Project Website

CSCI 115 Final Project Website

The final project for CSCI 115 had us making websites with topic of our choosing. Since I love to draw, I decided to make a website that shows off drawings I have made. This website was the culmination of everything I learned in CSCI 115 including grids, flex rows, responsiveness, hero pics, divs, etc. This was a fun website to make and one I am still proud of.

Fractals and Filigrees

Q Filigree Letter

During my senior year at College of Charleston, I worked on a group project where we created a Python program to analyze filigree images (decorative letters) to determine whether or not selected images were likely to be done by the same author. This project was to assist a professor in the Art History Department with her own project of researching old choral books. This project was interesting as I had to expand my knowledge in Python programming beyond what I already learned by learning new libraries and capabilities to accomplish the task.

Bachelor’s Essay Website

During my senior year, I had a Bachelor’s Essay (similar to a Senior Thesis) to accomplish. My project was researching why it is important for a small business to have a digital presence and what methods they could use to achieve one. During the course of my project, I compiled all of my research and articles I wrote into a website. This allowed me to practice and refresh myself on what I had learned from my previous website design classes.

Eagle Eye Accounting

One ongoing project I have at the moment is assisting my aunt with her new accounting firm, Eagle Eye Accounting’s, website. My aunt requested my help with various tasks on this website due to my experience with WordPress. At the moment one of these tasks involves boosting the website’s search engine optimization to allow Eagle Eye Accounting to appear higher in the search results. I will also be tasked with adding links to forms clients will be able to fill out on the website.
